What
Slideform eliminates
The
slab and getting it done is the least glamorous part of the
building process
but in reality it has to be accurate right? Most instances allow
small discrepancies to occur with little trouble later on down
the track.
We were called to site by "Bob" to have a look at a slab that
was a "typical" end result
of the work of the sub contractor of the project builder.
"Bob"
had had enough and was asking about the Slide-Form system specifically
if it would stop instances like those staring us in the face.
Slide-Form takes out the guess work, it will never eliminate
human error, however
there is no chance to 'bend' the formwork out as far as the
dimensions in the
photo's. "Bob"
then took us to a house completed 14 months prior, and about
to
undergo "fixing" of the inaccurate slab by underpinning work,
all of which was a
cost to the builder, and all of which could have been avoided
in the first place. We
took "Bob" to a site that had used the Slide-Form system to
form the slab.
The difference in the finish of the perpendicular face left
our guest open mouthed,
the fact that the slab was flush with the first course of bricks
made him just
about weep, and the rebate depth consistency around bay windows
was nearly the
breaking point.
It
is not glamorous but who wants a leaning tower of pisa on their
hands?
When it goes wrong it is expensive, to get it right the first
time is not a complex
task when using the Slide-Form System, and welcome "Bob" to
our list of converts!
